mondocherry is made up of two
sisters and their mother, who share a love of creating and a
passion for hand made and unique design.
After living in separate countries, we all found ourselves back in
Brisbane in 2006, and over many cups of coffee, and possibly a few
too many slices of cake, we decided to form
mondocherry in order to share what
we enjoy making with others.
We have always loved old books and enjoy searching for special
ones, with beautiful or quirky illustrations and winsome text, in
flea markets, charity shops and at fetes. They show a world
when life was very different to the way it is today and our
children are fascinated by them too. We love using these
discarded books in our artwork and designs.
We also love being surrounded by the colour and texture of
beautiful fabric. When we find textiles that capture our attention
we enjoy using these in both our button and fabric artwork, often
hand stitching beads and sequins to add texture, sparkle and
individuality.
